OUR STORY
1877 Our story begins
Our story began in 1877 when a small Italian family with winemaking traditions immigrated to Peru. Three years later, in 1880, Santiago Queirolo Raggio opened a historic restaurant called La Taberna Queirolo.
We start with the “Antigua Taberna Queirolo”, which is still open
Santiago was in charge of the food and personally oversaw the production of wine and, later, pisco. While he was passionate about winemaking, his main focus was the success of the restaurant.
Santiago's passion for wine prevailed
However, when his diners began recognizing and requesting his liquors more often, he decided to immerse himself in wine production and created the Santiago Queirolo Wines. Without even knowing it, he started a family tradition that would continue living 140 years later.
The vineyards where founded in Cañeta and Ica
Our wines are produced with high-quality grapes grown in our vineyards in the Cañete and Ica regions. We have carefully improved our winemaking process after meeting with world-renowned enologists Jacques Blouin and Edmundo Bordeu. We learned new European techniques that led us to revamp our operations to increase the quality of our products.
Today we are a worldwide award-winning brand
Our efforts have paid off, and we have earned more than 100 medals and trophies in wine competitions around the world. Recently, we were awarded the Sustainability Award in 2022 by the Engineering Institute of Peru for our clean operations and low levels of CO2 emissions. Today, we have the opportunity to supply more than 50 countries cleanly and efficiently, making us a Peruvian success story whose products are enjoyed by people all over the world.
